Turku Travel and Transport: City waterfront photoAs with many of the cities within Finland, central Turku is by no means expansive and well suited to those who prefer to travel on foot. Many sights and restaurants are just a short walk away from each other and based around the market square (Kauppatori) and along the banks of the River Aura, although public transport in the form of buses is on hand in Turku, suiting those who need to travel just that little bit further.

City bus transport is frequent and most tickets remain valid for two hours, from the time of purchase. The main bus routes in Turku travel around much of the city and include the railway station to Kauppatori, and the harbour to Kauppatori, along with the airport itself. Turku's harbour is especially important and has become a major gateway into Finland, with ferry transport regularly arriving from Sweden.
